Maryam Cheema is a psychotherapist dedicated to creating spaces where individuals can explore their inner world in relation to culture, identity, and lived experience. Her work is rooted in a humanistic and integrative approach, blending insights from relational, psychodynamic, and person-centred therapies. She believes that healing begins when people feel safe enough to be honest with themselves and supported enough to explore what comes next.
Maryam brings a transcultural perspective to therapy, recognising how cultural context, family systems, and social expectations shape the ways people think, feel, and relate. She works collaboratively with clients to slow down, reflect, and navigate their experiences in a way that feels authentic and meaningful. Her approach is trauma-informed, respectful, and tailored to each individual’s unique journey.
As a trainee clinical supervisor, she also supports fellow therapists in reflecting on their practice, fostering professional growth, and maintaining ethical, client-centered care.
Who I Work With:
Maryam works with adults, young people, and groups navigating challenges such as trauma, grief, anxiety, sexuality, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, and intercultural stress. She also supports clients affected by complex trauma, including survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and modern slavery.
